3 Game-Changing Reasons to Ditch Your Old Website System!
Tips For Entrepreneurs #1 By Steven Peter Burke
If your website runs on a CMS like WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, and others, brace yourself—even the first of these “3 game-changing reasons to ditch your old website system” causes a rethink.
You see, if I were your competitor, just by avoiding a CMS, my site would load much faster than yours.

Put another way: all the image compression, CSS combining techniques, and other SEO trickery can’t beat this: my site loads 2–5x faster right out of the gate—especially on mobile!
If sites that use static HTML architecture put on boxing gloves and face down any site on a CMS, it’s not a fair fight. The CMS site is playing catch-up even before the page loads.
Since speed–or more correctly, Page Load Speed is a ranking factor, and dynamically generated sites (CMS) have both code bloat and an extra processing step to deliver to first-time site visitors, they are relatively slow.
No matter how much money you spend on an SEO professional, I win and you lose!
Reason #1: Static HTML is much faster than any CMS.
Faster page load speed will lead to a higher ranking website if everything else is equal, and that means outranking or outcompeting your competition.
However, it takes a few months (4 to 6) before improvements to page load speed and other aspects of SEO cause a site to rank higher, and that is where reason #2 comes in.
Many surveys have been done on bounce rate, which is the percentage of people who leave a site and return to the search results to try another site due to a slow Page Load Speed (the top reason for bouncing)!
An improvement from two or three second page load times that are associated with mobile visitors who land on CMS web pages–even optimized ones–to 3 or 4 tenths of a second cannot be understated. Visitors don’t bounce at that load speed, and they are impressed.
With lower bounce rate and a greater perception of you in the eyes of would be customers, fans or followers, you can see that speed is a double whammy.
Lower bounce rates are instant from ditching WordPress or any CMS for Static HTML Websites.
Reason #2: Faster loading web pages dramatically reduce bounce rates.
As you can see, benefit #1 takes time to pay off, but benefit #2 is instant, as it benefit #3.
WordPress is free but the plugins and drag-and-drop page builders–think Elementor Pro–we add to various CMS systems usually aren’t free.
If you are using WordPress and have a CDN, like Cloudflare, or website security, like Word Fence, and an SEO plugin, like Yoast or WP Rocket, you need to spend every year to keep those products. That is just not the case with Static HTML.
What does this mean? Static HTML websites cost significantly less than websites on CMS systems.
WordPress has 50% of the websites online, and with popularity comes risk. Hackers have learned to look for vulnerabilities and that means things like Backup and Security plugins are a must.
With the slow running speed of CMS systems, add-ons or plugins that handle compression and other aspects of SEO become even more important. Without them, the site is even slower.
It is not uncommon for a company or entrepreneur to spend $40 or $50 per month on a CMS ite to keep it secure, backed up and running as quickly as possible. And none of that is needed for a Static HTML site.
Since the site is simpler, a CDN costs only $1 a month, not $20. Since it is far smaller, backup takes no room and can be stored on a laptop or in the cloud for pennies. And SEO is no longer an issue, as the site is already many times faster.
The elimination of SEO costs, drag-and-drop page builders fees, and massive reduction in storage and CDN costs all add up, which is reason #3.
Reason #3: Static HTML is less expensive than CMS (like WordPress)
In the past, the challenge with Static HTML Sites was learning how to create them and the need to write occasional code — it was not for DIY, and could only be done by techies. I am ecstatic to report that this is no longer a deterrent.
With the development of the NO-CODE page builder by The Speed Of Profit™, anyone can put up a web page that outperforms any CMS website system and costs less!
Now, after settling on a custom template you like, you can write a web page in Google Docs or Microsoft Word and publish it on your site in seconds, and you can even get AI to help you!
